Traveling to another country can expose your group to diseases your bodies are not prepared to fight off on their own. Along with infectious diseases, there’s always a possibility of accidents resulting in serious injuries as you navigate foreign territory.
Atlas Group can cover various medical expenses to help the members of your group receive the treatment they need to get back on their feet. Coverage extends to eligible expenses resulting from local ambulance rides, hospital room and board, surgery, physical therapy, and diagnostic testing.
If specific drugs are prescribed to treat a newly-incurred, covered injury or illness, Atlas Group can also help cover the cost. To see other benefits offered through this policy, check out the Description of Coverage.
Many mission travelers journey to countries with less advanced medical facilities or work in areas where the nearest physician equipped to treat them is hundreds of miles away. If you sustain an injury or illness that threatens your life or limb and the nearest emergency facility cannot provide the medically-necessary treatment, Atlas Group will cover eligible costs associated with transporting you to the nearest hospital that can.
Political and social factors can change the security status of a country in an instant. Atlas Group can pay eligible transportation costs to get you and your group to the nearest safe country if your current location is deemed unsafe.
Stay up-to-date with current advisories from the U.S. Department of State.
Unfortunately, some terrorist attacks can happen without any telltale signs used to initiate travel warnings. If your group sustains injuries related to certain acts of terrorism in a country that has not been under a level 3 “reconsider travel” or level 4 “do not travel” advisory in the 6 months prior to your date of arrival, Atlas Group will cover eligible medical treatment costs up to the $50,000 lifetime maximum.
Atlas Group offers Crisis Response coverage to help pay for costs affiliated with ransoms and personal belongings surrendered during an express kidnapping. This benefit gives you 24/7 access to the Response Operations Center and its experienced crisis response team.
It’s imperative to know this benefit exists – especially if your mission group is traveling to a country undergoing societal transitions.
*Atlas Group will not provide coverage if a kidnapping occurs initially in any of the following countries: Nigeria, Pakistan, Iraq, Venezuela, Afghanistan, or the OFAC-sanctioned countries of Cuba, Sudan, North Korea, or Iran.*
Natural disasters are more common in some areas of the world than others. If a covered evacuation from a forecasted or current natural disaster displaces you from planned, paid lodging, Atlas Group can pay $250 a day for up to five days for replacement accommodations.
Your group may also wish to add an optional Crisis Response Rider with Natural Disaster Evacuation Coverage upon purchase. If you select this buy-up, your group will receive up to $10,000 for an eligible evacuation to the nearest safe location or your home country, provided that your destination becomes uninhabitable due to a natural disaster in which your group is unable to leave by normal means.

Although there's no way to fully prepare for accidents with lost checked luggage, you can cover your personal belongings just in case the need arises. Atlas Group can pay up to $1,000 toward the cost of replacing your clothes and personal hygiene products if your checked luggage has been lost for at least 10 days.
Travel delays can also be an inconvenience. If you are delayed overnight for over 12 hours for a covered reason, Atlas Group can provide reimbursement for accommodations and meals.
