Packing for missionary travel is slightly different than packing for a normal vacation. For instance, you might need to pack work clothes and supplies.
Depending on where you are traveling to, packing for missionary travel may mean packing clothes that are versatile and made for all types of weather conditions. Check out this list of things to pack for your mission trip.
Clothing
As far as clothing goes you need to pack enough and the appropriate kinds of clothes. The type of clothing you take depends on the type of services you will be participating in. If you are flying, be sure to pack a set of clothes in your carry on bag, just in case your luggage is lost.
Notebook and Pen
You might think these things trivial or unimportant, but this trip is a life changing experience and you will want to remember as much as possible. Taking a notebook and pen will allow you to journal about your trip and your experiences.
Personal Hygiene Products
Depending on where you are going and how long you will be gone you will need to take your personal hygiene products with you. In some places you may not be able to purchase a toothbrush and paste, soap, shampoo, combs/brush, nail clippers, or shaving supplies. It is important to have personal hygiene products to stay healthy in a foreign country.
Camera
A camera will work in much the same way as a notebook and pen, in that it will allow you to capture your memories. With photographs you will also be able to share your experiences with others.
Copies of Your Documents
Your important travel documents (passport, visa, flight information) are extremely important, but sometimes we lose these items. Be sure to take your originals with you, but also make a photocopy and put it in your baggage, just in case you lose the originals. You might also leave a copy of these documents at home with someone.
Packing for missionary travel can be time consuming and tedious. So be sure to start packing well in advance and double check your packing list!
