Cruise Insurance

Safeguard Your Vacation at Sea

Prepare Before You Sail

Before you set sail for your cruise, make sure you’re equipped with cruise insurance. Many potential issues could spoil your cruise. Whether it’s missing your flight to the port, getting sick during, or inclement weather cutting your trip short, cruise insurance could help with recouping your losses from a cancellation or illness.

WorldTrips Travel Insurance offers our Atlas Journey® series of trip cancellation insurance plans that are ideal for cruise passengers.

What Is Cruise Insurance?

Often referred to as "trip cancellation insurance," cruise insurance can reimburse you if your cruise is unexpectedly delayed, canceled, or interrupted due to a covered reason. WorldTrips’ cruise travel insurance plans feature a Trip Cancellation benefit as well as other benefits like Baggage Damage or Loss, Trip Interruption, Emergency Accident and Sickness Medical Expense, and more.

All of our Atlas Journey® plans include travel assistance services as well. Our team is available 24/7 to help you with travel arrangements, lost luggage assistance, and more!

We have three tiers of our Atlas Journey trip cancellation insurance plans to choose from. Each provides different benefits and premiums to best meet our customers’ travel plans.

Why Do I Need Cruise Insurance?

While cruises are a great way to see the world, passengers are not in control of the itinerary, weather, or other factors that can alter your vacation. Having cruise insurance provides you with trip protection in many vacation-altering situations.

  • Cruise delays due to bad weather can be fairly common, and there's no guarantee your cruise line will compensate you for meals and accommodations.

  • Flight delays or a missed connection could make you late for your cruise’s departure.

  • Stomach bugs may spread through cruise ships quickly. Gastrointestinal illnesses like norovirus and also COVID-19 could spread rapidly among passengers.

  • Recreational activities on excursions may result in injury.

  • Your regular health insurance may not provide international coverage if you’re injured outside of your country’s territory.

What Does Cruise Insurance Cover?

Cruise insurance can protect non-refundable investments related to your cruise. It reimburses you if, prior to your departure, you have to cancel your cruise unexpectedly due to a covered reason. It also includes trip protection benefits like reimbursement for a travel delay or lost or delayed baggage.

Cruise insurance also provides medical coverage for unexpected injuries and illnesses. Your Atlas Journey cruise insurance could cover eligible expenses such as physician services, ambulance services, a hospital stay, anesthetics, X-rays, and labs.

Our Atlas Journey plans also include medical evacuation should the situation become dire, and you need to be transported to a hospital for medically necessary treatment. Plans also include repatriation of remains if you or your travel companion die while at sea and your body needs to be returned to your home country.

You can even opt into cruise travel insurance with Cancel for Any Reason coverage to make sure you’re covered if, for some reason, you decide to cancel your trip for any reason not already covered under your Trip Cancellation benefit. WorldTrips has a number of optional upgrades to choose from to customize your cruise insurance coverage.

How Much Does Cruise Insurance cost?

The cost of your cruise travel insurance policy will depend on your age, total trip cost, and number of travelers. Trips over 30 days have an additional charge. Your state of residency could factor into your price too.

Our three Atlas Journey plans provide varying coverage maximums at different price points to match your travel plans:

Atlas Journey Escape

The budget-friendly plan that offers lower coverage limits than the Elevate and Explore plans in exchange for a lower premium.

Atlas Journey Explore

Mid-level cost, mid-level benefit amounts that provides a balance between coverage and cost.

Atlas Journey Elevate

This plan has the highest cost and provides the highest coverage limits of the Atlas Journey plans.

At WorldTrips we hope to provide the cruise insurance coverage you desire for your upcoming trip. You’ll find that many of our trip insurance plans are budget-friendly and provide the confidence you need to travel fearlessly. Start your journey today with a free quote on cruise insurance.
